About the event
Film screening & Q/A with Director Pankaj Rishi Kumar
To Die a Frenchman, directed by Pankaj Rishi Kumar, is a documentary about a gentleman in Pondicherry and his campaign to claim French citizenship. Something he believed to be his birthright.
Set against the unique history of Pondicherry and it’s complicated relationship with France, the film follows his pursuit as he navigates questions of citizenship, identity, memory and the lingering legacy of colonialism.
The film has been selected for the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam, and Patchwork Film Collective is delighted to a part of sharing it with Mumbai cinephiles for a special screening.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Pankaj Rishi Kumar, giving our audience the opportunity to discuss the film, it’s making, and the fascinating story at its heart.
