About the event
A meet-up for late-diagnosed neurodivergent women*
Have you spent years wondering why certain things seem harder for you than they seem to be for everyone else?Maybe you were diagnosed later in life. Maybe you’re still figuring out what neurodivergence means for you. Maybe you’ve spent years masking, over-explaining yourself, feeling “too much” or “not enough”, and only recently started understanding yourself differently.
The Chronic Illness Support Club is hosting an intimate, therapist-facilitated gathering for late-diagnosed neurodivergent women* to meet, share, listen and feel a little less alone. This isn’t a networking event, a lecture or a support group where you have to tell your life story. You can talk as much or as little as you want.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Meet other late-diagnosed neurodivergent women who understand the experience
- Talk about the parts of neurodivergence that don’t always make it into conversations about diagnosis
- Make sense of experiences like masking, burnout, sensory overwhelm and feeling “different”
- Hear how other people navigate identity and relationships after diagnosis
- Share your own experience without having to explain or justify everything
- Find language for things you may have struggled to articulate
- Potentially find people you’d like to stay connected with beyond the session
- Spend two hours in a space where you don’t have to perform being okay
You don’t need to be an expert on your own neurodivergence.
You don’t need a formal diagnosis to know that these experiences resonate with you.
This isn’t group therapy.
It is a facilitated peer-support and community gathering, with a therapist helping hold the conversation and the space.
