About the event
Join us for the for the first meeting of Full Circle - a forum for progressive, intentional discussion. We meet on the third Sunday of every month and engage with a piece of media (audio, visual, literary, essays) and discuss after.
This month, we’re watching A Sacred Place (2026, 40 mins, English) by Prof Dolly Kikon (Anthropology, UCSC). The documentary tells the story of stones, spirits, and salt springs in Makhel, centering Indigenous pedagogy, community history, and ecology.

The discussion will centre around Indigenous ecology and epistemology, ritual, tradition and preservation, and nature as an archive of Mao Naga culture.
Note: While the ticket is free (apart from buying a beverage at the venue, starting at 150), this particular event will also act as a fundraiser for one of the protagonists in the documentary. He has been using the same laptop since 2011 and we will donate the full proceeds towards him getting a new one. He is one of the few people in his town to use a laptop, and it acts as an access point for the community.
