About the event
We often remember the Taj Mahal as the ultimate monument inspired by love. But the tradition of building grand mausoleums for beloveds began much earlier with the early Mughals and the royal women of the harem.
Our journey begins at Humayun’s Tomb, commissioned by Humayun’s first wife, Bega Begum. But this walk goes beyond the monument to uncover the extraordinary women who shaped the Mughal dynasty.
These were women who travelled alongside the men, navigated wars, advised rulers, influenced politics and made remarkable sacrifices, challenging the conventions of patriarchy along the way.
Come, step into the 16th century and meet the begums who refused to remain behind the scenes.
