About the event
Did you know that Delhi is the world’s second most bird-rich capital?
In The Birds Around You: A Beginner’s Guide to Watching Birds in Delhi, nature educator Misha Bansal takes us through the quirky, dramatic, surprisingly relatable lives of the birds we walk past every single day, from dusky crag martins nesting beneath metro stations, to hornbills sealing themselves inside tree cavities to breed, to the pied cuckoos that herald the monsoon.
We’ll explore Delhi’s common birds and what to look and listen for through the year, uncovering the quirky lives of birds and how simple everyday observations can become meaningful contributions to documenting and protecting urban biodiversity.
Whether you’re into science, city ecology, weekend walks, or you’ve just always wondered what that bird outside your balcony is actually doing, we think you’ll leave the city sounding a little different in your ears.
And this time, come prepared with your questions!
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Misha Bansal is a nature educator currently working as a Sustainability and Nature Education Specialist with a group of schools in Delhi. She holds a background in Biochemistry and a Master’s in Life Sciences, and began her career studying bird communities at the Aravalli Biodiversity Park before spending a year documenting birds in Mangar village to support forest protection.
She later joined Early Bird in Bengaluru, where she built learning resources, helped launch the Young Birders’ Network, trained fellow educators, and co-founded All Women Nature Walks, now active in five cities. Her approach treats nature education as a facilitator, not a lecturer, focused on curiosity and hands-on connection with the living world rather than fact-driven teaching.
