intimacy and how men learn and socialise it is a conversation rarely had. more often than not, it gets read as sex and stops there.

however, intimacy is also the friend who knows the full version of your week, beyond ‘it’s good’, it’s the person you'd allow to see you cry. the hug you end after two seconds because three feels like too many.

most men get a brief version of what intimacy looks and feels like, one approved route to closeness and left to work out the rest alone. this table is about the whole of it. what closeness looks like in your life right now, where you picked up the rules for it, and what you do with the parts that don't fit.
