The evening will begin with a meditative Sitar recital, setting a serene and soulful mood. This will be followed by an engaging Sitar–Tabla fusion, where the two instruments converse through rhythm and melody. The second half will feature a soothing Dhun, creating a tranquil and rejuvenating ambiance to conclude the evening.
Nikhil Patwardhan has over 35 years experience with Indian Classical music and the Sitar. He belongs to the Maihar Gharana, the same gharana as Pandit Nikhil Banerjee and Pandit Ravishankar. Nikhil started his Hindustani Classical music training at the age of five with his grandmother followed by his father. At the age of fifteen, he received the Center for Cultural Resources and Training scholarship from the Government of India. He started receiving formal training from Pandit Parthapratim Chatterjee, belonging to the Maihar Gharana. He has performed several concerts at multiple venues in India as well as internationally including the US, UK, Japan, Dubai among others.He also teaches Sitar and conducts music therapy sessions with the Sitar.
He has a Masters in Electrical Engineering degree from the US and works with an MNC in the field of semiconductors and electronics.
Shailesh started his journey in Hindustani classical music at the tender age
of six. His initial training in tabla began with his father, Pandit Haridas Shenoy followed by Pandit K. Pundalik Shenoy. A graded artiste of All India Radio, he has performed with many renowned musicians at several prestigious festivals. He also plays the Santoor and teaches Tabla.
