Slugs is a 1988 creature feature by the Spanish director Juan Piquer Simon. Set in the bright idyll of American suburbia, it follows a town’s struggles with an infestation of flesh-eating slugs. The film features delightfully off-kilter performances, sublime practical effects, and some genuinely hilarious sequences. Perfectly paced, and thoroughly absorbing, this is one of the finest pieces of Euro-American shlock ever produced.
