That’s the whole split. You don’t build a website, chase payments or keep a spreadsheet of who’s coming.
The four things you actually decide
- The idea. Say it in one sentence: “a pottery night for beginners” or “a supper club for solo diners”. If it fits in a text message, it’s ready.
- The date and place. A cafe off-peak, a studio, a rooftop or your home all work. Check capacity, cost and noise limits with the venue, and ask what permissions apply, for example for alcohol or licensed music. Rules vary by city.
- The price. Price to fill the room, not to profit. Ten guests at ₹599 earns ₹5,990. Three guests at ₹1,499 earns ₹4,497, with a quieter room and fewer photos.
- The guest count. Aim for 8 to 12. It’s small enough to manage and big enough to feel alive. Add a second date if it sells out.
To find your break-even number, divide your total costs by your ticket price.
Run it once with friends first
Invite 6 to 8 friends and run the whole thing exactly as you’d run it for paying guests. You’ll find what’s confusing, what runs long and what it really costs. You’ll also get your first photos, and people book what they can see.
Add one thing people can’t get at home
An activity is good. An activity with a twist is what gets talked about. Pick yours: a theme, a no-phones rule, a tasting, a challenge, a take-home keepsake.
On the day
